Project Spotlights

A-Z Database Collection Migration

I supervised the migration of eLibrary content from a static list of links on the library's website to the modern and more flexible LibGuides A-Z Database management platform from SpringShare. The immediate goal was to improve access to and the user experience within our digital space.

Prior to launching the new A-Z Database list, eResources were uncategorized, untagged, and unsearchable.

In contrast, the new interface has a range of discoverability features including improved mobile navigation, multiselect filters, and custom flag options for searching and browsing.

Based on a detailed review of resource subscription content, I developed subjects categories and resource type lists to maximize the impact and accessibility before importing metadata.

Since increasing resource visibility and improving the user experience with this system, database usage statistics have steadily begun to increase as well.

Archival Music Collection

The Boys Town Collection Series is an inventory of personal papers, music, letters, and books of Reverend Francis P. Schmitt including ephemera, sheet music, scores, and books of the Nebraskan Boys Town Choir.

I managed the processing plans and finding aid organization for this collection at Duquesne University in 2014.

It is available to view in the University's Archives and Special Collections department at Gumberg Library.

Series I includes 3 boxes of Fr. Schmitt's papers, correspondence, and 1 box of books. Series II contains choral sheet music arranged alphabetically by composer. Series II contains the collection dedication, music catalogs, books, pamphlets, and postcards. The collection measures 7.5 linear feet.
